STUDIO A FUN FACTS:
Q: How large is studio A?
A: 2839 SF total, the main tracking area is 1175 SF and can accommodate 15-20 musicians, the adjacent rehearsal space is 1664 SF and allows for recording of up to 35 additional pieces.
Q: How large is control room A?
A: About 750 SF
Q: How big is the studio’s audio server?                                                    
A: We are currently using 9 TBs of disk space approx. half of the EVO server’s total capacity.
Q: Why do the headphone mixers have ethernet cables?
A: We have a state-of-the-art digital headphone system which allows for up to 8 independent simultaneous headphone mixes to feed the studio.
OTHER FUN FACTS:
1. Students record more than 30 guest projects every year. (You can hear some of them on the sessions page)
2. There are 120 microphone inputs in studio A.
3. All of the microphone connectors in the studios are gold-plated to prevent corrosion.          
4. Students have over 120 microphones to choose from.
5. All 4 studios can be inter-connected to operate   as one; able to transmit 8 channel digital headphone mixes as well as HD video and MIDI data bidirectionally between control rooms or studios.
6. 72 bi-directional audio tie lines interconnect the studios.
7. Audio files on the server can be accessed from any control room or edit suite.
8. The studio walls are more than 15” thick.
9. The sound lock & studio doors weigh more than 400 pounds each.
10. The facility is transformer isolated from the power grid, and incorporates a number of green, sustainable technologies in the consoles and speakers used throughout the facility.
11. The equipment in the studios requires large, dedicated air-conditioning units that use the latest in computer controls, are quiet and very energy efficient.
12. The concrete under the studios and control rooms is 4 ft. thick in places.
